Terms and conditions
AI Shorties - Terms And Conditions (End User Licence Agreement). The same terms you accept when you install the app.
Please read these terms carefully. By clicking "I accept the agreement" you confirm that you have read them, that you agree to them, and that you agree to the installation described in section 3. If you do not agree, click Cancel: nothing will be installed.
1. WHO WE ARE
AI Shorties is created and licensed by Himesh Modasiya, trading as AI Shorties, United Kingdom ("the developer", "we", "us" or "our"). Contact: Admin@aishorties.net. Website: Aishorties.net. Purchases are processed by Stripe through its Link service, which is the seller of record for the sale (see section 5). "You" means the person installing or using AI Shorties ("the Software").
2. WHAT THE SOFTWARE DOES
AI Shorties turns a landscape video you choose into a 9:16 vertical video with animated subtitles and optional end-card overlays. All video processing happens on your computer. Your videos are not uploaded to us.
3. WHAT YOU ARE AGREEING TO INSTALL
By installing, you agree that the following will be placed on your computer:
a) The programme files - the AI Shorties application, its icon and licence file - in the folder you choose (by default under "Program Files\AI Shorties"), plus a Start Menu entry and, if you tick the option, a desktop shortcut.
b) Bundled third-party components that the application needs to run, including a copy of FFmpeg (video encoding), OpenCV (video analysis), the Python runtime, Pillow (images) and the faster-whisper / CTranslate2 speech engine. See THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt for the full list and their licences.
c) Small licence and free-trial records, stored (i) in your Windows registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\AIShorties (the installation date) and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\AIShorties, and (ii) in files under your user profile (%APPDATA%\AIShorties and %LOCALAPPDATA%\AIShorties). They contain only your trial start date, the date the Software was last used, a random identifier generated on your computer, and (once activated) your licence key. They contain no name, email address or other personal information.
d) Additional files that need an internet connection. During installation the installer downloads the default speech model and the face-detection model (you can cancel that step, and if it fails or you cancel, the Software downloads them the first time you create a Short instead). Anything else is downloaded only when you use it:
- a speech-recognition model from Hugging Face: "Whisper large-v3-turbo" (about 1.6 GB, the default), or "Whisper large-v3" (about 3 GB) if you choose the "Most accurate" option,
- a small face-detection model (about 230 KB) from GitHub,
- the caption fonts you choose, from the Google Fonts repository on GitHub. Models downloaded by the installer are saved in "C:\ProgramData\AIShorties\models" (and are removed when you uninstall); anything the Software downloads later is saved in your user profile (for example in the ".shortmaker" and Hugging Face cache folders). Together they need up to several gigabytes of free disk space. Those download services can see your IP address, as for any web download. The Software does not send any of your videos, transcripts or personal data to those services or to us. You can remove the programme with "Uninstall" in Windows Settings. Models the installer put in ProgramData are removed. Models downloaded later into your user profile, and the trial/licence records, are deliberately left in place (so that uninstalling does not reset your trial); you can delete the folders listed above yourself if you want them gone.
4. FREE TRIAL
The Software can be used with all features free of charge for 7 days from installation. After that it stops creating Shorts until you enter a valid licence key. You must not try to reset, bypass or extend the trial (for example by changing the system clock or editing the trial records).
5. PRICE, PAYMENT AND LICENCE KEY
a) The price is the one shown on our website and at checkout (currently $19.99), as a one-off payment. At checkout you will see the final price in your own currency, including any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live. There is no subscription and no renewal.
b) The purchase is made on a Stripe checkout page. Stripe, through its Link service, is the seller of record: it takes your payment, charges and pays any sales tax or VAT, and sends you the receipt and invoice. Your bank statement will show a payment to LINK.COM. Stripe's own terms and privacy notice apply to the payment.
c) After your payment succeeds we email your licence key to the address you used at checkout, normally within a few minutes. If it does not arrive, check your spam folder, then contact Admin@aishorties.net with your receipt.
d) The licence is personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable. It lasts for as long as you use this version of the Software and allows you to install and use it on computers that you own or control, for your own personal or business use. Updates within the same major version are included free of charge.
e) You must not share your key publicly. We may cancel a key that is shared widely, obtained by fraud, or refunded.
6. WHAT YOU MAY NOT DO
You must not copy (other than for backup), sell, rent, sub-license or redistribute the Software; reverse engineer, decompile or modify it or its licence checks, except where the law specifically allows this despite this restriction; generate or distribute licence keys; or use it for anything unlawful. Third-party components are licensed to you under their own licences (see THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt), which apply to those components.
7. YOUR VIDEOS AND CONTENT
You keep all rights in the videos you load and the videos you create. You are responsible for having the right to use and publish any material you process (including music, footage and logos) and for complying with the rules of the platforms you publish on. Overlay text and graphics provided with the Software may be used in your videos freely.
8. CANCELLING AND REFUNDS
a) The 7-day free trial lets you try everything before you buy, so you can decide whether the Software suits you.
b) Cancellation and refund rights for your purchase are those shown at checkout and in Stripe's Link terms, together with any statutory rights you have as a consumer where you live (for example any "cooling-off" period for online purchases). Payment-related refund requests can be made through Link support or by contacting us.
c) If a purchase is refunded, the licence key for it may be cancelled and the Software may stop accepting it in a later update.
d) Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including your right to a refund if the Software is faulty or not as described.
9. YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
The Software itself collects no personal information. It does contact our website (aishorties.net) when it starts, and when you choose "Check for updates", to ask whether a newer version is available; like any web request, our server receives your IP address and the Software version number, and we do not use them to identify you. When you buy, Stripe (through Link) collects and handles your payment details, name and email address under its own privacy notice; we never see or store your card details. We receive your email address and purchase details so that we can send you your key and help you if something goes wrong. How we use them is explained in the privacy notice at Aishorties.net/privacy.
10. DISCLAIMER AND LIMIT OF LIABILITY
The Software is provided "as is". We try to make it work well but we do not promise that it is error-free or that results will suit your needs. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost data or indirect losses, and our total liability for any claim relating to the Software is limited to the price you paid. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be limited or excluded.
11. UPDATES AND ENDING THE AGREEMENT
We may release updates. You may stop using the Software at any time by uninstalling it. We may end this agreement if you seriously or repeatedly break it; you must then stop using the Software and delete it.
12. GENERAL
These terms are the whole agreement about the Software and are governed by the laws of England and Wales; the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction (if you are a consumer, you may also rely on the laws and courts of the place you live). If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
